A lifelong advocate of melody and its power to move people, saxophonist and composer Robbyn Tongue is purposefully working to bring inspiration to everyday life through his music. Pushing the boundaries of style and genre, this "fresh and invigorating" bandleader has garnered awards and accolades from peers and professionals alike since arriving on New York's jazz scene. His big mellow alto saxophone sound is in demand with groups such as Valery Ponomarev's Big Band, the Stan Rubin Orchestra, vocalist Matthew Bryan Feld, and The Ben Geyer Sextet, with which he recently recorded The Narrative, the bands first studio album. He has performed throughout New England and in New York at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, Iridium Jazz Club, and The Jazz Standard, alongside jazz masters such as Dave Leibman, John Faddis, and Candido Camero. Robbyn received the 2008 John C. Borden award for “Outstanding Accomplishment in Jazz” from Manhattan School of Music.
