W Date St & India St
San Diego, California 92101

"The Little Italy Mercato stretches up Date Street from Kettner to State (and soon Union) and includes a Certified Farmers' Market along with locally produced breads, sauces, organic granola, fish, flowers and plants, and artisan olive oil, pasta, sea salts, and more. Local chefs shop at the market and also cook there, using local, fresh ingredients. Watch for the debut of the demo kitchen next month, where shoppers can learn exactly what to do with that beautiful ruby chard or baby artichokes. In a neighborhood founded by fishermen and in view of the waterfront, it's a perfect place to stock the larder on Saturday morning and also enjoy breakfast and lunch, a little music and the urban ambience of Little Italy. Opened in June 2008, the Mercato has already become part of the heart of the city. Open 9 am to 1:30 pm every Saturday, year-round, rain or shine. Every Saturday, Year Round, 9 AM to 1:30 PM Date & India in Little Italy.
