Little Ireland and Little Italy History and Tasting Tour March 13, 2011

Commemorate not one, but two ethnic celebrations... and satisfy your appetite as well. Celebrate the upcoming St. Patrick's Day and St. Joseph's Day with a stroll through the former Little Ireland, with its Irish heritage sites and a history and tasting tour of Little Italy, which only once a year prepares pastries in devotion to St. Joseph. Stops include Five Points, made famous in Gangs of New York, the birthplace of Cardinal Hayes, Mulberry Street, Banco Stabile and the Church of the Most Precious Blood. The sampling of Little Italy's ethnic specialties range from pizza and prosciutto bread to St. Joseph's cake.
