Litquake Presents 'Password' - A Literary Speakeasy July 19, 2012

Litquake takes San Francisco back to the days of yore-when the Women's Christian Temperance Union ruled America with a dainty but iron fist-with the staging of PASSWORD, a literary speakeasy that will feature Prohibition-era cocktails, jazz, readings and more.

Guests are invited to dust off their ostrich feathers and enjoy crispy ales along with flapper friendly cocktails as they take their place around Litquake's version of the Algonquin Round Table and listen to readings from the following:

* Poet Robin Ekiss as Tallulah Bankhead
* Rumpus editor and author Issac Fitzgerald as Robert Benchley
* Noir City founder Eddie Muller as Dashiell Hammett
* Self described writer with slovenly habits Sarah Fran Wisby as one Miss Dorothy Parker
* Author Joshua Mohr as Sinclair Lewis
* Local literary luminary and Literary Death Match producer Alia Volz channeling silent but bobbed screen star Louise Brooks for emcee duties

Other entertainment options include the jazz stylings of pianist J. Raoul Brody along with the vocals of chanteuse Laurie Amat. In addition a New Yorker style caricaturist will be on hand to catch libertines in action, while one of the rooms at Cellspace will host a Thin Man movie marathon.
The no-host bar will blatantly serve gin and vodka cocktails-origins unknown but way too good for a bathtub-to all comers (21 and over, of course), as well as SF's own Prohibition Ale. Variety of wines also available (for medicinal purposes only).

All proceeds to benefit Litquake 2012 programming. No host bar.
