Prepare to be amazed and rocked to your literary core by this all-star line-up!
Readers: Peter Orner (The Second Coming of Mavala Shikongo), Ellen Sussman (Dirty Words), April Sinclair (Coffee Will Make You Black), and Jesse Nathan (Dinner).
Judges: the Honorable Andrew Leland on Literary Merit, the Lovely Eve Batey on Performance, and a mystery judge on Intangibles.
The Literary Death Match is a thrilling mix of four writers who perform their most electric writing before a curious audience and a panel of three all-star judges. After a pair of readings, the judges take turns spouting affectionate, off-the-wall commentary about each story, each focusing on one of the three categories: literary merit, performance and intangibles (also, meanness is never a factor, as judges are there for comedy, not serious critique). They then select their favorite of the two writers to advance to the finals.
For the finale, we trade in the show's literary sensibility for an absurdly comical climax to decide who takes home the Literary Death Match crown.
