Linie 1 - A project of PASCH: Schools Partners for the Future. Linie 1 is a musical, which has been presented for the first time at the Grips-Theater in Berlin on April 30, 1986. The music has been written by Birger Heymann together with the rockband No Ticket, while the texts have been written by Volker Ludwig. In 1988 a team led by Reinhard Hauff filmed Linie 1, turning it into a successful musical-movie. Linie 1 is one of the most played German theatre shows. After the Dreigroschenoper by Bertolt Brecht it is worldwide the mostly played German musical. Linie 1 has obtained much success in other countries too. Linie 1 is set inside the Berlin metro line U-Bahn-Linie 1. The metroline used to pass through the Western part of the city between the stations Ruhleben and Schlesisches Tor (Kreuzberg) and crossed various quarters with very different social structures. A girl from the countryside comes to berlin to look for her friend and gets to know various persons from Berlin on her metro-ride in the U-Bahn Linie 1. Linie 1 is brought to Hyderabad by Bunte Bhne the students theater group of Goethe Institut Poona. Following the performance, a panel discussion with eminent theatre representatives from Hyderabad will contribute to highlight the ever growing local theatre scene.
