Lindy on the Rocks Swing Dance Festival
returns to Denver August 14-16
CMDance is proud to announce the 5th annual Lindy on the Rocks swing dance and music festival. Lindy on the Rocks has come to be known as one of the most fun and best-attended swing dance festivals in the country. Featuring 15 national champion instructors, including Ben Morris, Emily Jo Hoffberg, Kevin St. Laurent, Peter Strom, Ramona Staffeld and many more, this festival is expected to draw 400 of the best swing dancers from around the nation and beyond. This year’s festival will feature 40 focused workshops in swing, lindy hop, blues & aerial swing dancing over the weekend.
Lindy on the Rocks will also have social dances open to the public every night featuring popular national swing bands, the Robert Bell Hot Swing Combo and the Southside Aces. Friday and Saturday night dances will also feature exciting swing dance competitions and champion performances. The Friday dances will be held at the Turnverein Culture Center Ballroom (1570 Clarkson St.) and Saturday night dance will be at the classic 1770 Sherman St. Ballroom. We’re happy to say there will also be late-night swing & blues dances with buffet on Friday and Saturday at the landmark restored ‘20’s era Baur’s Restaurant in LoDo (1512 Curtis St.)
Sunday the festival celebrates with a massive outdoor sunset swing dance at the Cheesman Park Pavilion (12th & Race). Sunday night Lindy on the Rocks will close out with a stellar old-school Swing and Soul party hosted by national DJ’s Peter Strom and Scott Angelius.
All proceeds from Lindy on the Rocks are donated to jazz dance and music school programming for Denver metro area youth, so your participation and enjoyment at Lindy on the Rocks also supports a great cause. Register now! Weekend festival passes are $139 for now, going up as we get closer to the event. You can also register for competitions online now.
CMDance is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Denver, Colorado, USA dedicated to the arts. Our main mission is promoting the education and preservation of vintage dances from the early 20th century such as Tango and Swing dancing in the forms of Lindy hop and Balboa. We run several national events that offer classes for all levels of dancers so that future generations will continue to foster the love of these dances.
