Freeport, IL – The Lindo Theatre invites you to their final feature in the Early Classic Comedy Film Series. The 1935 Marx Brothers classic “A Night at the Opera” is slated for November 28th at 1 PM and 7 PM. Co-sponsored by Highland Community College and Stephenson County Historical Society, movie admission is $5 and tickets are available at the Lindo box office, located at 115 South Chicago Avenue.
“A Night at the Opera: is a classic tale of unrequited love between two opera singers. The Marx Brothers – Groucho, Chico and Harpo – aid the operatic tenor Rodolfo Lassparri (Walter Woolf King) in his quest to woo the leading lady of the performance, Rosa (played by Kitty Carlisle). Unfortunately, Lassparri’s love interest has desperately fallen for another, more talented, man. Pulling several typical Marx Brothers' stunts, they arrange for the regular tenor to be absent so that the young Rodolfo can get his chance to demonstrate his singing abilities and woo Rosa.
Mark your calendars for the bonus movie slated for December 5th, the 1952 musical “Singin’ in the Rain,” starring Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, Donald O’Connor and Jean Hagen.
