Freeport, IL – Enjoy the award-winning documentary, “Country School: One Room - One Nation,” on Wednesday, April 11th at 7 PM, playing at the Lindo Theatre, 115 S. Chicago Ave. This special program will be shown as a fundraiser for the Stephenson County Historical Society’s School House Project. Movie admission is $5 per person with all proceeds from ticket sales going toward the cost of the renovation of their one-room school. Following the screening, a discussion of the film will take place.
Filmed by Kelly and Tammy Rundle, this documentary provides a never-before-seen perspective on one-room schools in the Upper Midwest. This visually stunning film features a unique country school designed by Frank Lloyd Wright along with dozens of more traditional structures of brick, stone and wood in picturesque rural areas of Iowa, Kansas, Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri and Nebraska. The film also includes interviews with former country schoolteachers and students in addition to one-room school scholars. “Country School: One Room - One Nation” takes viewers “back to school” for a beautifully photographed glimpse into what it is like attending such schools.
