Lindo Theatre Introduces Classic Film Series: Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid November 10, 2010

For many decades and across the world, the western was the mainstay of movies - the epic struggle of good vs. evil, cattle barons vs. poor sod busters, the fast drawing sheriff vs. the outlaw. Celebrating this epic period in time, the Lindo Theatre, located at 115 South Chicago Avenue in downtown Freeport, is showcasing a series of classic western films. Each film is shown on select Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. through November. Admission is $5 for each movie, or $20 for the entire series. “The Western” series, co-sponsored by Highland Community College and Stephenson County Historical Society, presents its next film, Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid, on Wednesday, November 10, 2010. As an added bonus for those who purchase the series tickets, the Lindo Theatre will offer complimentary admission to the timeless holiday favorite, White Christmas, on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. or 7 p.m.

Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid:
Paul Newman and Robert Redford star as a train-robbing Wyoming duo, who are the leaders of the infamous Hole-in-the-Wall gang and in love with the same dance hall girl.

There will be a brief introduction before each movie and a discussion immediately following led by Ed Finch, Executive Director of the Freeport Historical Museum and Alan Wenzel, Speech Communications Instructor at Highland Community College, who have carefully selected films representing each of the four decades from the 1930s to 1960s. The program is designed to offer movie-goers the experience of viewing time-honored American Film classics on the big screen along with the opportunity to discuss various aspects of each film.
