Come celebrate the life, times and legacy of our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln on the occasion of the 200th Anniversary of his birth. Even though Lincoln turned down the Territorial Governor position offered to him, when he became President, Lincoln helped our newly minted state to develop with his launch of the Transcontinental Railroad, establishment of the Land Grant colleges and more.
The Friends of History at Portland State University is presenting a full week of events to commemorate the Bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln with programs that are free and open to the public; including two Lincoln movies, a readathon, a keynote lecture by the co-founder of the Civil War Round Table, a candlelight vigil and more.
