“Feverishly beautiful.” —The New York Times
"A film of transcendent poetry and boundless imagination." —Walter Salles
Famously admired by the likes of Sergei Eisenstein, Orson Welles, David Bowie, Brazilian musical treasure Caetano Veloso, and Walter Salles (The Motorcycle Diaries), Limite is the only film by Brazilian filmmaker Mario Peixoto (who made it when he was only 21 years old), an avant-garde, silent masterpiece that has achieved cult status. The elusive narrative concerns two women and a man adrift at sea whose lives on land are conveyed via fractured flashbacks.
Pleae note that Limite will be presented in HD Cam and not with live piano accompaniment as originally advertised. Instead, BAMcinématek is pleased to present the film with its restored, original soundtrack.
