DENVER CHILDREN’S THEATRE

presents Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse

Adapted for the Stage by Kevin Kling
Based on the Books by Kevin Henkes
Directed by Billie McBride

Families will experience the magic of live theatre in the award winning Denver Children’s Theatre’s Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse. Lilly is an exuberant young mouse facing all-too-familiar issues at home and in school. Although she courageously stands up to bullies and delights in teaching her friends to spell backwards, Lilly still needs to learn important lessons about family, friendship and forgiveness. Through clever dialogue, fast-paced scenes, realistic characters, and yes, even cheese, the award-winning playwright Kevin Kling creates an entertaining and insightful tale.

Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse is based on a series of books by Kevin Henkes, the winner of the 2005 Caldecott medal, and offers ample opportunities to integrate theatre arts into an investigation of positive social skills, respect for the environment, and acceptance of others
