Lights Out San Francisco is a citywide energy conservation event on Oct. 20, 2007. On this night, we invite the entire city of San Francisco to install one compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL) and turn off all non-essential lighting for one hour. To promote long-lasting energy saving, we plan to distribute free CFL bulbs throughout the city.

Bravo, Raines! i will be volunteering Saturday doing prep for Bernal Heights Fiesta the following day. I may be able to get some CFL's to some low income seniors and nonprofit staffers through the Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center while helping out there. I'll let you know!
My supply is temporarily depleted but I should have more before Saturday. I'll be in Pleasant Hill Saturday but can get 'em to downtown SF, perhaps Citizen Space, before then. On Friday I'll be at Bioneers, it looks like.

If anybody needs free CFL's in the East Bay, I'm supposedly getting 500 from PG&E today (through a Sierra Club partnership), that I can distribute up to 2 per household.
