ABOUT LIGHTS DOWN LOW: LDL has been a primary fixture in San Francisco nightlife for 5 years now. Known worldwide, we bring you the best in new electronic acts. James Blake, Jokers of the Scene, Brenmar, Christian Martin, The Presets (DJ Set), Congorock, Treasure Fingers, Yolanda Be Cool, Brodinski, Drop The Lime, Felix Cartal, Egyptrixx, Yeah Yeah Yeahs (DJ Set), Eli Escobar, Dave Nada, Canblaster, Harvard Bass, Gant-Man, DJ Funk, Zombie Disco Squad, Dubbel Dutch, In Flagranti, Passion Pit (DJ Set), Blaqstarr, Classixx, Larry Tee, Tommie Sunshine are just a few of the names to grace the LDL stage. Now second Fridays at Som Bar.
ABOUT JD SAMSON: No stranger to the LDL stage, JD Samson is an absolute favorite of ours. She is known for her wildly eclectic DJ sets that have you movin late into the night. Samson started her well known music career when she joined the electropunk band Le Tigre back in 2000. Over the following years, the band became bigger and bigger, which if you are reading this, you certainly know about. Since 2007 Samson has been heading up the awesome and growingly popular band MEN. Samson is a true icon and we are proud as hell to have her out to play her always fun DJ set.
ABOUT NOMI RUIZ: Nomi gained notoriety when she joined the truly amazing nu disco group Hercules & Love Affair. Together, the group shot into immediate stardom. Their self-titled LP was widely referred to as the dance album of the year by many critics all over the world. Nomi’s vocals added a great deal to Andrew Butler’s production. Since then, she has joined up with a couple of Hercules collaborators to form Jessica 6 which brings together minimal electro, dance, pop and R&B. Catch them live the day after LDL Pride on the Pride Main Stage. Nomi plays a great and intelligent mix of electro, disco and funk. We are excited to welcome her to LDL.
ABOUT DEREK BOBUS: Derek is one of the main men behind SF’s greatest queer collective, Honey Soundsystem. Together, this group of disc jockeys, musicians, performers and designers throw dance parties throughout San Francisco as an alternative to a Castro-centric gay scene. Honey Sundays is the collective's weekly residency at Holy Cow, where it pumps the dance floors full of everything from house to disco. We love Derek and know he will keep the party raging in that well known Honey Soundsystem fashion.
ABOUT MISS POP: Miss Pop is a San Francisco-based DJ who specializes in old skool jams, 80s/90s freestyle, and also spins rare 70s/80s punk and nu wave on vinyl. Born in sunny Southern California, raised on vinyl soul, now serving all the songs that make you want to shake, shimmy, or bounce your booty. This is Miss Pop’s LDL debut and we are excited to have this Lexington Club mainstay join us on this special occasion.
