Students choose among the many flowers or plants for one that produces dye in their favorite color and learn how that dye is made. Students may choose to prepare a composition and paint or draw it in their chosen medium or make a small notebook containing samples of dyed materials and small drawings or paintings of plants. Guest speaker Judith Towers discusses craft dyes and dyeing, and students learn to prepare a solar dye bath. Instructors Celeste Johnston and Hazel Buys, both botanical and fiber artists, lead the class. A list of materials is sent after registration. Lunch is on your own each day. 4 sessions = 16 hrs. GES: BI, 16, elective
