Flautist, tenor saxophonist, co-leader and featured soloist of the award-winning Toshiko Akiyoshi Jazz Orchestra, Lew Tabackin is "one of the few jazz musicians who have been able to develop completely different musical personalities on two instruments." (All Music Guide) As a tenor saxophonist, Tabackin is a thunderous improviser reminiscent of Sonny Rollins. As a flautist he has the delicate touch and fluidity of a classical virtuoso.
