Byers-Evans House Theatre Company presents “Letters to Home”
DENVER—Letters to Home, presented by the Byers-Evans House Theatre Company opens at the Byers-Evans House, located at 1310 Bannock Street in Denver, November 5 with shows through November 14. The theatre performances coincide with Denver Arts Week and tickets cost only $15.00.
Letters to Home debuted three years ago at the Byers-Evans House Museum to rave reviews. Adapted by Maggie Stillman, Deni-Marie Warren, and Amy Ratliff and directed by Maggie Stillman and Amy Ratliff, Letters to Home is a journey as seen through the eyes of Colorado soldiers and the letters they wrote their families while in combat. Spanning The Civil War to The Desert Gulf War, Letters to Home examines the life of soldiers and their experiences, longings, and humanity.
Here is what critics said about Letters to Home in 2007:
There were no pretty pictures or flashy colors on tour in front of us. Simply solid actors, exact direction, and tragic letters. - Zach Mannheimer, 2007. ww.coloradobackstage.com/reviews/hunger_artists/letters.shtml
You must see this show. It is not simply an important piece of historical theatre, it's also damn good. I was moved to tears on more than one occasion, and I jumped to my feet at the curtain call, something I have never done at a "reading.” Brady Darnell, 2007.

If you haven’t yet seen "Letters To Home," don’t miss it. - Holly Bartges, Colorado Backstage 2007.http://www.coloradobackstage.com/reviews/hunger_artists/letters.shtml
This year’s production returns with Maggie Stillman and Amy Ratliff again as Directors. The cast members include some of Denver theater’s finest, starring: Matthew Morgan, Zach Cantor, Peter Nemenoff, Charles Wingerter, Sara Whitney, and Laura Ione.
The show takes place in the library of the historic Byers-Evans House Museum, amidst the Evans family original belongings and beautiful furniture. The museum collection itself serves as the stage and creates an historic atmosphere appropriate to the historic nature of the letters. The museum has always supported local theatre by serving as a venue for various small companies. This is the first performance of the newly formed Byers-Evans Theatre Company which is associated directly with the house. All ticket proceeds help support museum programs, operations and education. The Byers-Evans Theatre Company will feature a February Valentine’s Day show entitled Love written by Maggie Stillman and a revival of the popular An Evening With Edgar Allen Poe for Halloween 2011.
