Leo T. Baldwin, already well known in the Valley for his years as a standup comedian, radio personality, frequent performer in Northampton Arts Council productions will be appearing at Mocha Mayas in Shelburne Falls on August 30th with the Mercy Dees (Richard Cahillane and Drew Hutchinson) at 8:00. Leo recently released his first CD of original songs, Mixed Up American Kid, a collection of musical short stories, reflections on life and death, and a rebel song or two. Leo was chosen as one of the finalists in the River Singer-Songwriter contest in 2007. He has performed at many local music hot spots in the Valley such as The Harp in Amherst, Memorial Hall in Shelburne Falls, and the Pines Theater in Northampton. He is the host of the monthly open mike at Mocha Mayas in Shelburne Falls. Johnny Memphis, music director of the River, wrote that Leo T. Baldwin on Mixed Up American Kid shows a keen sense of telling details along with sharp observations. Baldwin delivers his songs with a gift for melody and an emotional commitment. During his past entertainment career Leo T. Baldwin was a very funny comedian and now, taking on a new form of expression he is a terrific singer-songwriter. Tommy Shea of the Springfield Republican wrote that the songs on the CD get better the more I listen to them. The CD is available at About Music in Greenfield, Turn It Up Records and Dynamite Records in Northampton, Mystery Train in Amherst, and at Mocha Mayas and Boswell Books in Shelburne Falls.
