“Working at the extreme, they perform intriguing movements while striving for beauty, which appears at unexpected moments.”
— Dance Magazine
What would modern dance look like if it were not based on the dance vocabulary of Martha Graham technique, but rather on an idea or an emotion? The answer is the choreography of Andrea Leine and Harijono Roebana. Their evening length work, Sporan (which means tracks or paths), is richly textured and expresses human emotion through pure movement.
The performance will be accompanied by live music—vocal, piano and viola— including works by Pierre Boulez, Henri Purcell, William Byrd and John Dowland.
Funded in part by the National Dance Project intriguing movements while striving for beauty, which appears at unexpected moments.”
