Originally hailing from Buffalo NY, Select has grown up on music since birth. Taking on the drums at a very young age, he later picked up playing the trumpet and keyboards and learned how to read music. He was also influenced through his family, who all played in "bag pipe" bands, which had heavy drum lines and bag pipe melodies that would come to influence his playing style today. Already listening a lot of 90's music, such as hip hop, punk, reggae, he engulfed himself in any musical style he could get his hands on.

After relocating to Dallas, Texas, he purchased his first set of turntables at 16. Select got his first start playing out at "PALM
BEACH REGGAE CLUB" where he immediately fell in love with reggae/ dancehall music. He gained his first weekly at the age of 18 and was given the name "SELECT" by his mentor, selector "Curtis G." After DJing at numerous clubs around Texas, SELECT reconnected with DJ Nature and The Party was born. Later adding Sober to the collective, The Party holds down 2 monthlies in Dallas, Austin, and Houston. They booked and opened for acts like Timbaland, Krames, Klever, Blaqstarr, Rye Rye and Justice. He himself has opened up for or played with Elvis Costello, Quest Love, Pete Rock, Cool Kids, Ricky Blaze, Flosstradamus, Paul Wall, Spank Rock, DJ Craze, B Hamp, Pase Rock, Roxy Cottontail, Queen Majesty, Smif N Wessun, Radioclit, VHS or Beta, and Ratatat. Just to name a few....

When Select plays expect a lot of different music. He stays away from the current trend that has engulfed mainstream music and strives to play a mix of old, classic, and current music in his sets. His music ranges from hip hop (classic & new), house (classics & new), funk, disco, and reggae (culture & dancehall - old/new). His sets are well rounded and ready for a crowd for any night!
