The arts are the jewels of our lives. Fine jewels deserve an equally beautiful mounting. To house its many art programs, El Paso Community College is making plans to build a Fine Arts Complex with the help of renowned artist Amado Peña Jr. and many other local and regional artists.
EPCC and the Amado & JB Peña Art Has Heart Foundation are teaming up to build a new and multi-functional arts complex to support and enrich the creative lives of the college’s prolific and growing community of artists. The new facility will house and exhibit the works of local and regional artists including prints, sculptures, craft works, and theatrical performances. Our dream is to create a building that will provide the much needed space for student artists to practice and perfect their skills in drawing, painting, sculpting, acting, dancing, and singing. A gallery of rotating exhibits where student artists as well as artists from the community can exhibit their work.
To jumpstart this ambitious project, EPCC is hosting “Legacy Art El Paso.” It will be a night to remember filled with entertainment, delicious food prepared by the EPCC culinary arts program and an art auction filled with amazing art from local, regional and national artists. The event will begin at 5 p.m. with a silent auction, music, and food and drinks. The live auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 20 in Building A at the college’s Administrative Services Center, 9050 Viscount.
The auction is open to the public. Tickets are $100 per person available at any EPCC campus cashier. For information and reservation, call (915) 831-6614 or visit www.epcc.edu/legacyart.
