Michael is President of Leonardo Academy (www.leonardoacademy.org) and was the chair of the USGBC Existing Buildings Committee from 2001-2005 guiding its work on the development of the LEED-for Existing Buildings (LEED-EB) rating system.

Known as the Godfather of LEED-EB, they developed the pilot version of LEED-EB, managed the pilot for USGBC, prepared the majority of the initial Reference Guide & most of the original workshops & conducted all review from 2002-2007.
Leonardo Academy assisted the Clinton Presidential Library, which originally earned LEED NC Silver-Certification to earn recertification as a LEED-EB Platinum building.
