With its handsome fountains and terraces, Chateau de Brécy is among the most dazzling formal gardens in private hands today in France. Recently restored to its 17th-century perfection, Brécy has been the object of one of the most successful landscape preservation projects in Europe. In this illustrated lecture, Dr. Eric T. Haskell of California’s Scripps College, places Brécy in the context of garden history and the arts during the golden age of Louis XIV. Haskell will sign copies of The Gardens of Brécy: A Lasting Landscape following the lecture.
