and a cautionary consideration for the future.
Presented by the East Village History Project and Bowery Alliance of Neighbors, this interactive lecture explores the great history of the Bowery and possible future in the face of development.
David Mulkins has been a teacher of history and cinema studies at the High School of Art and Design for 20 years. He is Co-founder of the Bowery Alliance of Neighbors, a community preservation group. Activist anti-war activities have included a 5-year stint doing street theater as George W. Bush.
East Village History project is a non-profit organization dedicated to researching and documenting the history of the greater Lower East Side of Manhattan. Through its partnership with the Bowery Poetry Club, EVHP operates the East Village Visitor Center at 308 Bowery (http://eastvillagevisitorscenter.com), which offers visitor information, historic exhibits, walking tours, educational programs, workshops and a cafe.
