For our second meeting in September Phoenix Objectivists will be joined by Dr. Carl Goldberg who will give a lecture titled: "What Everyone Needs to Know About Islam, and Why".
After 9/11, Dr. Goldberg became seriously interested in Islam. Upon learning all he could about it, he has had many Letters to the Editor published about Islam and has done numerous public appearances and radio shows on the religion.
This is a very relevant topic to cover in light of the controversies surrounding the Ground Zero Mosque in New York City, the 9th anniversary of 9/11 having taken place this month, the U.S.'s conflicts in the middle east and the the War on Terrorism.
Dr. Goldberg's lecture will answer many relevant questions not only about Islam but also their relation and differences with other religions, such as Christianity and Judaism, and Islam's outlook on jihad.
After concluding his talk, he will take questions from the audience.
Dr. Carl Goldberg received his PhD in history from University of Michigan in 1974. From 1971 to 1972, he lived and did research in Moscow. From 1972 to 1979, he lived and taught in a German high school in Hamburg. From 1979 to 1980, he taught Russian language at ASU, and in the mid-1990s, he published a monthly Russian language newsletter in Phoenix for newly arrived Jewish refugees from Soviet Union.
Please join us for an informative and thought-provoking evening!
