Gregory Clark, chair and professor of economics at UC Davis, has taught at Brown University, University of Michigan, and Stanford University, and was a Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Berlin (2005-06). Author of dozens of articles and book reviews in economic history, Clark is a contributor of two articles on the industrial revolution and the Malthusian economy in the forthcoming New Palgrave Dictionary of Economics (2008). His most recent book, A Farewell to Alms: A Brief Economic History of the World, was published by Princeton University Press in 2007 (and reviewed in The New York Times Book Review, December 9, 2007). He is also editor of Research in Economic History, Journal of Economic History, Explorations in Economic History, and Australian Economic History Review.
