Nazareth College and the Center for Holocaust Awareness and Information hosts a Kristallnacht commemoration featuring a talk by author Jud Newborn on Wednesday, November 3, at 7 p.m. in the Nazareth College Shults Center Forum. Newborn is the author of Sophie Scholl and the White Rose. For more information, contact Chris Mancuso at cmancus4@naz.edu. Nazareth College is located at 4245 East Avenue, Rochester, N.Y. 14618.
Newborn will use music, historical photographs and suspenseful storytelling to compare the story of Sophie Scholl and the White Rose to those of other young people who have chosen to speak out against evil in other places and times. He served as the Founding Historian and Curator of New York’s Museum of Jewish Heritage. The multimedia lecture is based on his new book, Sophie Scholl and the White Rose. This lecture is sponsored by Nazareth College’s Religious Studies, Center for Service Learning, Fine Arts Committee and Center for Holocaust Awareness and Information.
