Join us on for the Lecture and Lunch series on February 18 at 11:30 a.m. in the Jacket Legacy Room in the Student Union. Dr. Kara Keeter, an Astroparticle Physicist at Black Hills State University, presents The Dark Side of the Universe.

The deep underground science laboratory at the former Homestake Mine in Lead (DUSEL) is bringing the international science community to our doorstep. Dr. Kara Keeter will describe the importance of the research that she and her research partners are pursuing at DUSEL. This extraordinary facility will provide opportunities for university faculty and students to conduct world-class research, for K-20 teachers to expose their students to real research questions and to have them work with real data, and for the community and visitors to learn about science through the proposed science education center. The driving forces behind developing this multi-million dollar set of facilities at the surface and deep underground is the search for a better understanding of neutrinos and the nature of dark matter.

The Lecture and Lunch series will be in the Jacket Legacy Room of the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is a $10 fee which covers the cost of lunch. Reservations are requested, but not required. For more information and to make a reservation, please call Shelby Cihak at (605) 642-6420.
