Mieke Gerritzen is founder and director of NL.Design, an Amsterdam-based design company, ?permanently under construction.? NL.Design makes designs for all media; collaborates with many different designers, writers and artists; publishes books; and organizes global events. Gerritzen is head of the design department at the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam and is also involved with non-profit productions as director of the All Media Foundation.
Following her lecture, Gerritzen will be signing copies of USER: InfoTechnoDemo, written by Peter Lunenfeld, a core faculty member in Art Center?s Graduate Media Design Program. Gerritzen?s stunning visuals offer a full-color extravaganza, adding layers of meaning and complexity to the book.
Since 1986, the Toyota Lecture Series has enriched the educational environment of Art Center and the community at large. Eminent speakers have addressed international movements in art and design as well as the cultural, historical and political currents that shape the creative process.
