Yayasan MENDAKI is organizing a “Learning Festival” in June 2012 as part of its 30th Anniversary celebrations. The first objective of the festival is to enhance awareness of the community on the learning opportunities that are available and how they can benefit from them. Another objective is to communicate to the community and wider society on the learning journey of MENDAKI over the 30 years of growth and development.
It hopes to draw attention to the importance of how families and friends form one’s attitudes towards learning, encouraging and supporting one to learn through life. Family learning can lead to powerful benefits for both children and their parents. Children’s educational outcomes are strongly influenced by parental involvement in their learning. Therefore, parents and caregivers are often motivated to learn as a result of being involved in family learning activities.
Some of the activities include;
• Photo gallery on the journey of the community ‘s development and progress (across 4 networks of Education, Employability, Family and Youth Development)
• Educational competitions for children
• Talent competitions for youths
• Group competition for families
• Mass Math activity to be recognized in the Singapore Book of Records
