WHO: Students and community members who want to learn or improve their knowledge of Spanish

WHAT: Can earn up to five transferable college credits by participating in a Spanish language immersion experience at the at the Soléxico Language and Cultural Center. Classes are offered at different levels, from beginner to advanced. The program includes classroom instruction plus local immersion in the Spanish language. Visit cultural centers. Live with a host family and enjoy hospitality, family meals, language practice, and exposure to the life and culture of México.

Upon arrival at the school, students will be given placement exams to determine their language level. Monday through Friday, students will have three hours of grammar, culture and literature, complemented by two-hour cultural workshops. The workshops will be conducted in Spanish by local experts, and they are designed to increase the understanding of Mexican and Latin American culture as well as to expand language acquisition and retention.
In addition to language classes and cultural workshops, there will be weekly Salsa classes, cooking classes, Spanish movies, and more. To fully maximize this learning experience, there are optional weekend excursions to Chichen Itza, Tulum, Coba, and other attractions, at additional cost.

WHEN / WHERE: The study program will run from June 7 - July 2, in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Playa del Carmen is located in the center of Mexico’s Riviera Maya in the state of Quintana Roo. In th

e heart of the Yucatan Peninsula, this small city is approximately 35 minutes from Cancun’s international airport and 40 minutes from Tulum. Playa del Carmen attracts people from all over the world because of its relaxed, tropical atmosphere and its unmatched beautiful beaches. It is a great place to enjoy the cultural and historic richness of Mexico and the Mayan people.
