Learn Chinese language & Culture via movie - Mao's last Dancer June 16, 2011

Come and meet our members and Chinese language culture experts. This event, like all our events, is free for members and non-members alike — BUT please buy at least one drink to support our venue.

We strive to provide a friendly, casual atmosphere to relax after work and meet some new people. There are no introductions or presentations, only an unstructured opportunity to mix and mingle with other members and professionals Chines...e language & culture experts.

This month we return to Melville. Our drink and food specials, from 6pm to 10pm, include:

About the movie - A drama based on the autobiography by Li Cunxin. At the age of 11, Li was plucked from a poor Chinese village by Madame Mao's cultural delegates and taken to Beijing to study ballet. In 1979, during a cultural exchange to Texas, he fell in love with an American woman. Two years later, he managed to defect and went on to perform as a principal dancer for the Houston Ballet and as a principal artist with the Australian Ballet.
