Three luminaries from the Broadway stage top the Saturday, March 28, Symphony POPS! marquee. Debbie Gravitte, Jan Horvath and Anne Runolfsson will share the Long Beach Arena spotlight with guest conductor Michael Krajewski, beloved by Symphony POPS! audiences because of his previous tenure with LBSO.
Individually and collectively, the three "divas" boast impressive stage credentials. "Yet they're not 'divas' in the stereotypical sense," says Maestro Krajewski. "They're not demanding and temperamental. Instead, they're warm, unpretentious and funny. And they can really sing!"
Accompanied by the orchestra, Gravitte, Horvath and Runolfsson will interpret well-known selections from some of Broadway's greatest productions: "Gypsy," "Funny Girl," "The Music Man," "Mame," "Sweet Charity," "My Fair Lady," Wicked," "Evita" and more.
"They'll bring an exceptionally high level of interpretive skills to these numbers," says Krajewski. "Simultaneously, these are familiar songs that, on balance, make audiences feel good. And feeling good these days has grown to be a higher priority for most of us."
Symphony POPS! patrons are encouraged to enjoy picnic dinners at their tables or loge/balcony seats. Alcohol is permitted at these concerts, and patrons typically bring bottles of wine. Concertgoers provide their own picnic, have them professionally catered or visit concessionaries at various points in the arena.
$15 to $107.
