In 1978, Paul McCartney asked Laurence to become the lead guitarist for his band Wings. He recorded and toured with the band for three years, and was featured on the hit singles Goodnight Tonight and Coming Up. He won the first 'Best Rock Instrumental' Grammy award for the track Rockestra from the album BACK TO THE EGG and participated in the all-star lineup for the UNICEF 'Concerts for The People of Kampuchea' .. Laurence's studio career was flourishing as he worked on countless albums, movies and TV shows with such artists as George Harrison, Ringo Starr, The Monkees, Belinda Carlisle, Air Supply and Paul Williams. His playing was featured on the mega-platinum soundtrack to the movie Dirty Dancing as well as such TV favorites as Roseanne and Beverly Hills 90210. On camera, he was featured guitarist on the Young And The Restless for six years. Laurence was voted #1 Guitarist by the readers of Fingerstyle Guitar Magazine and was honored by the venerable Martin guitar company with his own 'L J' signature model, which was recognized with the coveted Editors Pick Award by Guitar Player Magazine.

Laurence will be joined on stage by special guests the Alex Skolnick Trio. In early 2002, Alex Skolnick Trio emerged as a refreshing and surprising new voice of improvisation: a former speed metal guitar virtuoso who had fallen in love with jazz, gone back to music school in New York, and hooked up with a fiery young rhythm section. Their debut recording marked the first time such a group had used heavy metal songs as standards, incorporating lush arrangements and sonic textures that run the gamut from soft and delicate to loud and intense. The group has received raves from Downbeat, Jazziz, Billboard, and more and performed for audiences all over the US, including many who never knew they could like jazz before. Now the mission continues with Transformation: six all new original compositions, plus arrangements of songs by Judas Priest, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, and more.

Laurence Juber will be at the House of Guitar, 645 Titus Ave., on Thursday, April 12th from 2-3:30pm for a "Meet and Greet". Laurence will also hold a workshop at Bernunzio's Uptown Music, 122 East Ave., on Sunday, April 15th from 12-2pm.
