In her native England, Laura Marling, nominated for a Mercury Prize in 2010 for her album 'I Speak Because I can,' has often been described as an old soul. Endowed with a husky voice, an acoustic guitar, and a gift for building quirky, hooky folk songs, Marling has earned praise for music which the Times Of London called "ambitious...thought-provoking and artistically tenacious." She won Best Female Solo Artist at the 2011 Brit Awards.
