2012 marks the seventh annual Latino Music Festival of Chicago. A core program of the International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago (ILCC), the Latino Music Festival produces performances and promotes awareness of intellectually significant music from Latin America and Spain. The festival brings the best Hispanic classical music from the present and the past to Chicago’s general audience and educational programs and concerts to the city’s Hispanic neighborhoods. Special emphasis is placed on related educational activities and fostering dialogue between Chicago, Latin America and Spain. The Latino Music Festival features several of Chicago’s most prestigious orchestras, ensembles and soloists, as well as a number of other talented young professionals.

Born in Castellón de la Plana, Spain, Pedro Navarro began studying guitar at age 6 as part of the “Sociedad Artística Nulense” and, at an early age, began to give solo performances. Studying with Manuel Babiloni at the Castellón Professional Conservatory of Music, he earned his professional guitar degree when he was 16. He continued his career at the Joaquín Rodrigo Upper Conservatory of Music. Navarro has received many honors, including an award for youth at the Francisco Tárrega International Competition and an award at Seville’s América Martínez National Competition.

This concert is part of the Chicago Latino Music Festival.
