Larry Newcomb, performing and recording jazz guitarist, returned home to New York on Valentines Day 1999 after earning the Ph.D. in Music from the University of Florida. Dr. Newcomb performed and taught extensively in Florida while completing his graduate work. Larry founded Newcomb Guitar School in 1985 where he enjoys the singular privilege of mentoring a wide variety of aspiring guitarists. Currently, Larry performs classic and original jazz in solo, duo, trio, and quartet configurations in the greater metropolitan New York City area and Eastern U.S. He continues to teach at Newcomb Guitar School in the Columbia University community. The Larry Newcomb Trio is very excited about contributing to the prodigious jazz program at the Garage. With Mike Camoia on tenor sax, and Tom Hubbard on bass, the Larry Newcomb Trio delivers their finest jazz on the first and third Saturdays of each month in the Garage Saturday Jazz Brunch series.
