LARRY GATLIN & THE GATLIN BROTHERS

MAKE PILGRIMAGE to CANDLELIGHT DINNER PLAYHOUSE for “A COLORADO CHRISTMAS.”

GRAMMY® Winning Trio and Country Music Pioneers Add Colorado Dates to Kick Off Second Season of Candlelight Artist Series.

Johnstown, CO (CDP) This Christmas season Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers will bring their family harmony to the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse, on Dec. 10-12, 2012. Larry, Steve, and Rudy Gatlin started singing in their little hometown of Abilene, Texas. Over the course of a four-decade career that has taken the Gatlin Brothers from dusty Texas stages to White House performances, from Broadway to CMA and Grammy Awards to the top of the country charts, there has been one unifying element, music. To date, the brothers hold 36 Top 40 Hits to their credit.

“We’re excited and very proud to announce that Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Brothers, amidst their busy concert schedule in Branson and around the country, will bring the spirit of Christmas to our stage and lead us into the second season of our Candlelight Artist Series,” says Dave Clark, Candlelight’s General Manager. “These concerts represent our ongoing commitment to providing excellent entertainment which we have been bringing to Colorado audiences with our Broadway-style musicals for five years now.”

The Gatlin Brothers lit up major marquees and packed concert halls across America throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s. In 1979 the Gatlin Brothers received five career nominations from the Academy of Country Music, and were awarded three 1979 trophies – Single (“All The Gold In California”), Album (Straight Ahead) and Male Vocalist for Larry Gatlin, who composed all of the group’s singles. The trio’s signature sound led to country classics like “Houston (Means I’m One Day Closer to You).” The brothers won a GRAMMY® Award for their breakthrough hit, “Broken Lady,” and reached No. 1 with “I Just Wish You Were Someone I Love.”

In 1992 the brothers made a decision to stop touring and relocated to Branson, MO. Larry appeared in the lead role in the Broadway musical “The Will Rogers Follies” the following year, while Steve recorded an inspirational album and Rudy opened two Gatlin Brothers Music City Grilles. In 1993, the group opened their own theater in Branson, MO, where they began performing regularly; they also sang frequently in Las Vegas.

In 2010, following their absence from the Nashville recording and songwriting scene, Gatlin and his harmony-singing brothers released a new album, “Pilgrimage,”on Curb Records. Its title is a nod to Gatlin’s first album, “The Pilgrim,” which debuted in 1974.

In 2011 the Academy of Country Music awarded the legendary harmonic brotherly trio the Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award, alongside the iconic Garth Brooks. The award honors individuals who are pioneers in the country music genre. Past recipients include Alabama, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Charley Pride, Kenny Rogers, Mel Tillis, Conway Twitty, Porter Wagoner, Charlie Daniels, Hank Williams, Sr., and Hank Williams Jr.

Their Candlelight performance will include holiday favorites, and draw from their many number one hits and their recent critically acclaimed Pilgrimage release.

Clark adds, “The Candlelight Artist Series enjoyed great success in its first year because of the world-class talent that performed on our stage, including three-time GRAMMY® winner Debby Boone, and Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr., seven-time GRAMMY® winners and original members of The 5th Dimension. The concert series has attracted new patrons from our local communities and Denver, and as far away as Colorado Springs and neighboring states who hadn’t discovered our award-winning Broadway-style musical productions.”
