Lanyee: A Ballet from Guinea, West Africa September 30, 2011

Duniya Dance and Drum Company and the African Advocacy Network are pleased to present “Lanyee,” a spectacular performance of high-energy traditional West African dance and music. “Lanyee” (“peace and unity” in the Susu language) follows the travels of a young man named Mamadou, who leaves his disharmonious village in a quest for peace. Featuring some of West Africa’s most highly acclaimed dancers and musicians, including Bongo Sidibe, Alseny Soumah, M’mah Toure, Karamo Susso, Mohammed Kouyate, Ousseynou Kouyate, Balandougou Kan Los Angeles, and more.
