The last few years have seen a growth in languages which use the JVM. This talk will give an overview of the current language on the JVM landscape, focusing on two of the most popular - if wildly different languages, Scala and Clojure. No previous exposure to these languages is assumed.
This session will be of interest to anyone with an interest in the future of the JVM, and the new crop of languages that are being built for it.
Sam Newman is a technical consultant at ThoughtWorks, where he has been for over five years. He has written articles for O'Reilly, presented at conferences, and sporadically commits to open source projects. Principally a Java developer, he also spends lots of time with Scala, Python, Javascript.
