Processing speech is something we do automatically and instantaneously, but do you ever wonder how? From a continuous stream of sounds you have to find words, match them to meanings, work out the most sensible structure of the sentence and be ready to respond. This course aims to whet your appetite in the fascinating field of psycholinguistics that is, how brains process and produce language. We cover a wide range of topics from looking at the architecture of the brain, to how we process language real time. As much as possible you will have the chance to trial the types of experiments we discuss either in class or on the internet at home. Details of this event may be subject to change.
