Lana Shuttleworth takes the fabric of urban life and carves it into works about the experience of living in the city. Her sculptures and reliefs are made from traffic cones, material that she finds pliant and expressive. Shredded, melted and manipulated, the plastic bears the traces of each operation Shuttleworth undertakes until it embodies weathered character. The cones, that are intended to be disposable, become metaphors for the people who populate our metropolis.
