"Lambchop are able to project an air of intimacy of which few bands are capable." –Tiny Mix Tapes
Chief songwriter Kurt Wagner and Nashville-based Lambchop build their unique art rock on underpinnings of fluid country-inflected soul. It's been seven years since the band last performed at the Wexner Center as we launched the Next @ Wex series. Since then, Wagner has grown comfortable with his role fronting the band, rather than thinking of the musicians as a collective ensemble, and the sprawling number of players have been honed to a tight core of six.
Lambchop will feature songs from OH (ohio), their new release, in this long-due return visit. (In typical Lambchop fashion the title is an oblique reference and not anything too specific about our swing state status.) You won’t want to miss Kurt and crew performing the shimmering shuffle of "National Talk Like a Pirate Day," the funky propulsive rhythm of "Popeye," and the intimate expression of "Close Up and Personal." There’s no opener, so don’t be late for this special evening with Lambchop.
Note: Cabaret-style seating with soft drinks available.
