Community arts council Lakeshore Arts (LA) launches 1000acts-of-art.ca, an interactive on-line arts hub created to inspire local Etobicoke residents and artists to “commit” an Act of Art and record it onto the site.

Similar to Facebook, 1000acts-of-art.ca allows users to write comments, upload pictures and video in order to create a community art hub. Free to join and easy to access, there a ton of useful community information such as listings of local arts-related organizations and highlights of different businesses, artists and programs each month.

This community-building initiative for the Lakeshore areas of South Etobicoke - Mimco by the Lake, Mimico Village, New Toronto, Long Branch and Alderwood - kicks off with a party and reception on March 8 at The Big Guy’s Little Coffee Shop, 2861 Lake Shore Blvd. West (at Fifth St., east of Islington Ave.)

Whether it’s painting a mural, attending the theatre, playing the piano or making jewelry, 1000 Acts of Art wants people in the community to get inspired, involved and engaged.

Artists, arts organizations and arts friendly local businesses can register for the 1000 Acts of Art Directory by visiting: http://register.1000acts-of-art.ca/.

There is no cost to register on 1000acts-of-art.ca for any individual or organization. The goal for this project is to inspire people to make art a part of their everyday lives and connect them to Etobicoke artists and arts organizations.
