Oak Park, IL – Morgan Freeman reunites with Director Rob Reiner in the Lake Theatre First Tuesday Film Club’s next film “The Magic of Belle Isle” (PG) about a wheelchair bound author who has lost his enthusiasm for writing. Slated for Tuesday, November 6th, show times are 12 PM and 7 PM. Movie admission is $6 for matinee shows/seniors and $8.50 for the evening shows. Advance tickets are available online or at the Lake Theatre box office, located at 1022 Lake Street.
“The Magic of Belle Isle” follows Monte Wildhorn, a famous Western novelist played by Morgan Freeman, whose struggle with alcoholism sapped his passion for writing. He takes a lakeside cabin for the summer in picturesque Belle Isle, and befriends the family next door – an attractive single mom and her young daughters – who help him find inspiration again.
The First Tuesday Film Club was created to expand its presentation of art/foreign films at the Lake Theatre. Due to the limited number of screens, the Lake is oftentimes restricted to more popular, mainstream films rather than the foreign or art movie options. Now, art, foreign, documentary, specialty, and/or classic films will be presented on the first Tuesday of every month at 12 PM and 7 PM.
The art films for this new First Tuesday Film Club have been selected with the assistance of local residents Susie Helfrich, Mary Kay O’Grady, and Bobbie Raymond along with Shirley Johnson of Classic Cinemas.
Classic Cinemas, based in Downers Grove, Illinois, is a family-owned company operated by Willis, Shirley and Chris Johnson. Established in 1978, Classic Cinemas operates 13 theatres with 100 screens in the northern Illinois area. Each auditorium is equipped with state-of-the-art digital projection and sound technology.
