“You don’t go to a Ladysmith Black Mambazo show for innovation; you go to be reminded that the human voice is the most beautiful sound on Earth.” —Washington Post
Ladysmith Black Mambazo has been singing the songs of Africa for over forty years. The a cappella group became internationally famous when Paul Simon featured them on his 1986 album Graceland. Since then they have sung with everyone from Dolly Parton to Stevie Wonder, and have performed for such luminaries as the Queen of England and the Pope. The voices of Ladysmith Black Mambazo marry the intricate rhythms and harmonies of their native South African musical traditions to the sounds and sentiments of gospel music. The result is a musical and spiritual alchemy that has touched a worldwide audience.
