Trash & Treasure Cleanup, Let’s Scare Up Some Trash
October 30, 2010
If you thought the September floods were scary then once you see the amount of trash that was washed into the lake it will make your skin crawl. Join hundreds of volunteers on October 30th to scare up some trash and remove debris of all varieties from MoPac to Longhorn Dam. Bicycles, tires, fast food containers, plastic water bottles, and beer cans are not the only treasures participants find. Sponsors donate gifts that organizers hide in various spots along the Trail and on-the-water volunteers can compete for a prize for the most unusual object found.
In addition to feeling great while you admire the immediate results of your hard work, you’ll also have the chance to win prizes and it’s not unusual for trail users to thank all of the outstanding volunteers.
There are multiple starting locations for shoreline and on-the-water volunteers (see registration link for details). On-the-Water volunteers should be 16 years or older.
