Labor Day Weekend Gala **LaKaY bAnD** World Music September 1, 2007

The members of local Afro-Caribbean band LaKay believe in uniting diverse souls and strive to carry that ethic to their audiences and to the larger world. The eight piece group brings together a wide variety of styles whose origins range from Africa to the Caribbean – calypso, reggae, soca, kompa, soukous, highlife, dancehall, and more. All of the songs leave a taste in your mouth, where you sing them for the next 5 days and crave to hear them again. Dancing is uncontrollable!

LaKay’s lively stage presence is spearheaded by lead singers Mystic Man, the band’s Haitian-born director, Nigerian native Kemi Spor, and Berkeley's own Lady Eleksa.
