This childbirth class is intended for first time expectant parents, as well as those needing a refresher class. Topics include what to expect during labor, birth and the postpartum period. Coping skills, along with lamaze breathing and relaxation techniques will be learned. Additional topics include the importance of support during labor, variations in the labor process, medication and anesthesia, common medical and hospital procedures, and postpartum care of the mother. This class is taken during the last trimester and provides information and builds confidence in expectant mothers and their support persons during the labor and delivery experience. (Does not include baby care or breastfeeding overview.) Includes tour of the labor & delivery area and pre-registration. This fee is per couple, but register only expectant mother for class. No refund after class has started.
